Monitoring your fleet

Fleet monitoring is one of the most mature use cases of Bosch IoT Insights, which has a major footprint on the mobility area of Bosch (also known as BBM).

Many business units at Bosch have trusted Bosch IoT Insights to organize their device fleets for pre-start-of-production (pre-SOP) validations as well as in production.

The range of use varies:

• from managing small application fleets, supervising testing equipment, and uploading measurement data

• to organizing hundreds of thousands of vehicles and tracking their error messages and health state.

With this tutorial, we will guide you through the most common steps which you will encounter in a vehicle fleet use case.

You will go through the following main topics:

• creating the representation of your devices in the system - manually (in advance) or automatically (upon data ingest)

• booking the devices for some events, e.g. test drives or maintenance, restricting the access to them, etc.

• setting up the data ingestion process - manual data upload via UI or automatic data upload via API

• filtering the relevant data with a query template

• creating a device position step in the processing pipeline to automatically update the device position

• displaying the data on a dashboard through various widgets
